I am so excited to become part of the John McCandless family. This will be my 13th year of teaching. I taught several years in 5th grade and am excited to continue my adventure in 3rd grade. In June I officially graduated with my STEM Masters Degree, continued learning by attending more trainings, and participated with the book club.  The rest was spent being a taxi, unpacking my house, and physical therapy.

Along with a love of learning, I enjoy spending time with my family.  I am married with three wonderful children whom have all attended Lincoln Unified schools.  My oldest daughter, Sonja, is currently  working two jobs in Tennessee and continues to work towards her goal of being a nurse.  My son, Patrick, got married and has two beautiful daughters and one more on the way.  I can finally say.  I am a grandma.  My youngest, Christopher, started a new adventure at Delta College and seems to be enjoying his classes for being a CNA.   When we are all together, we enjoy camping, hiking, playing games, and now I my favorite is playing with my two granddaughters.  I loved to shop for them.

My family had a lot of changes last year.  I started at JMC and fell in love with my students and their families.  I bought a home with a pool that my husband has always wanted.  My son got married and made me a grandma, but that doesn't mean I am old yet.  To complete all these changes, we finished off our home with a new addition name, Mandy.  She is a well-behaved four year old lab mix.  She is so loved and spoiled.   She has made everything complete.

As an educator, I feel it is important to look for the positive side of situations.  I learned to paddle board two summers ago and missed it terribly this summer but am enjoying the pool this summer.

Along with rafting and paddle boarding, I also enjoy long walks, cycling, and spending the afternoons on the beach.
